Ribbit!

My frog lovin first born decided she wanted a frog cake. Lo and behold, I rudefully found out that several of the store bakeries will not do anything that's in their handy dandy little flip book of theme cakes(methinks as to not end up on Cake Wrecks) Oiy. Never fear, my dear. Mommy to the rescue. I think. First I track down a cake pan which cost me $20. Yikes! Then I set out to construct the thing. Cake baking went ok but when I started on the buttercream frosting, my mixer quit. ARGH! I had to mix all that frosting by hand! 8 hours later, I manage to finish(and my arm didn't fall off!)but it was so tired, the greeting was kind of smeared. :(

Ribbit!

(btw, I had to frost the entire thing with a butter knife. I forgot any fancy decorating tools because I was in shock over the price of the pan!)

Check out Life as Mom for some more great cakes!

menu plan monday

my entire menu might be out the door this week. Thing 1 has volleyball tryouts Monday and Tuesday until 6pm. then if she makes the team, she'll have practice until 6 pm every night. Factor in running all the way across town, and dinner wont get started until almost 7. Ugh!

Breakfasts
Hot Pockets
waffles
cereal
all served with fruit

Dinners
Fish sticks, mac and cheese, brussel sprouts
Chef Salads
Pork chops, baked potatoes, green beans
Parmesan chicken, pasta, homemade french bread, salad
Chicken wings, potato wedges
Eggs, bacon, toast, and fruit
Quiche(from last week)
Taco soup, homemade flat bread.

You may notice I have 8 dinners. This is what is available so I can fit whatever in that I have the time for. Whatever I don't use, will carry over until next week!

menu plan monday

This have been a nightmare around here since before Thanksgiving. I've been faithfully menu planning, just not in the mood for much else. Here's the plan for the week:

Breakfasts:

Cereal

Hot Pockets

Toaster strudel

Lunches

whatever we can find

Dinners:

Shrimp and fried rice

Lentil and Barley soup, bread

Quiche with broccoli and spinach, fruit

Chicken nachos with tomatoes, salad

Sweet and sour chicken with rice, green beans

Tuna casserole, corn, salad

Desserts:

Rice Krispie treats

Cookies

Brownies

popcorn

One of my goals for the year was to get back on the homemade snacks for the week. It's definitely been going good(and makes the food budget cheaper!)
